"The Garden" just went up in the Northville Review. Yeah, I know, David Foster Wallace...I resisted the footnotes for a long time, but the story was just this bloated mess without them...and they are the funniest part of it...so yeah. I would call it a tribute, though I honestly wrote it a couple years before he died.

On a side note, remember the Jayhawks?
Requited journal published "Rain"
The Smoking Poet published "The Bank" (scroll down)

The Northville Review just took "The Garden," a "funny" story I wrote awhile back. Been trying to place it a good long while.

Sent off another entry in my flash series. It's a tad over--closer to 600 words, but it grew. Of course, this won't be the "next" one, this one will go up in a month or so.

Well, 8 school days till the break. The kids are extremely energetic these days...enough of that.

I wrote a poem about Memphis Wrestling. Well, sort of. I've actually tried to write about it a couple times. Always comes out as something else. People, of course, focus on Kaufman's contribution, but just consider the environment that would allow Kaufman to step in and do his thing. I was very surprised to find that wikipedia doesn't even have a stub for Reggie B. Fine.

I need a project for Christmas. Maybe a zombie book. Eh. Time to go bathe my rat.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk, but I'm a little deflated right now because I haven't been nominated for a Pushcart this year. I've been nominated 3 or 4 times in the past, but not this year. It feels as though I'm backsliding or something. As to whether I've published as much stuff this year, well, I'm not sure, actually, but looking back through these postings, I have to say I've had quite a few things published this year. Are they as strong as things I've written in the past? I'd have to say they are stronger. So what gives? Am I old hat? Am I just not keeping up with the kids? Fuck if I know. I was so surprised the first time I was nominated--it was for something pretty mundane, actually. Likewise, the pieces that were nominated last year were okay, but not my best work. Actually, one of them was pretty good. Maybe that's it. Maybe I'm not publishing enough mundane work. What a nice train of denial I've got going here. Who knows. I couldn't imagine actually winning. Still, it would've been nice to at least be invited to the party. But I think publishing it like that--none of it ever makes any real sense.
"The Mouse," from a series I've been trying to place for a couple years was finally picked up. Maybe I need to return to this series...
