I just had an essay picked up. "This Trick I'm Learning," which is about agoraphbia, was accepted by The Dead Mule. I'm kind of blown away whenever one of my essays is picked up--it's so rare.

And what a busy bee you can be, sir. Essayist, poet, short story writer, editor, teacher. Do you have a manuscript for a novel or novella tucked away somewhere, or in the works too. I have a couple of those from 30 years ago on the shelf. One day soon I will make an attempt to publish a movie review book. My reviews are quite unique, and I have been informed that non-fiction is easier to cold publish today. I am honing my performance skills too, in readiness for the
odd open mike poetry slam here in the Northwest. Wouldn't it be cool to go up against Sherman Alexie and be crushed like a book bug?

Alexie would be formidable. I have 2 or 3 novels, a novella and a couple linked story collections, etc. Tons of stuff. This is what it is to be a writer. My thesis was nonfiction, but I'm not happy with it.
